Front Towpin Casting

Project Description

• The customer wanted an austempered ductile iron front frame towpin casting similar which would fit with the rest of the front frame components and provide enough strength for a towpin while minimizing the casting weight and machining costs.
• We worked with the casting manufacturer and the customer's stress analysis group to design and document a casting that could handle the loads while still being relatively easy to manufacture.
• Two versions of the towpin casting were made - one for trucks with standard sized bumpers and one for trucks with logger bumpers.
